Family Day in Kazakhstan is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of September. It was initiated by President Nursultan Nazarbayev. The first celebration of Family Day was held in 2013.

Family Day was created in order to raise public awareness of important family-related issues such as reproductive health, family planning, and the prevention of unwanted pregnancies. It also aims to draw the attention of the general public to common family problems, especially those of young families, large families, single-parent families, as well as the families of veterans and people with disabilities.

Family Day in Kazakhstan is marked with various events and activities, including concerts and other cultural events, sports competitions, lectures on family planning and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, congratulations to young spouses who married or became parents on family day, and events honoring couples that have been married for 50, 60 or 70 years.

It has become a tradition to celebrate the Family Day every year, to hold the National Contest "Happy Family".

The International Book Department hosted a presentation of the foster care center, which helps people to adopt the kids from the orphanages in Kazakhstan.

The event gathered 34 people - adults and youth who are interested in adoption. During the presentation, the specialists told about the emotional side of the adoption, the parents who adopted the kids shared the experience.

Also, some families (who went through the adoption) brought the kids, and volunteers Veronika Bereza and Gulbanu Qabysheva had a Kids club for them. They watched cartoons, played board games, etc.
